Glottis: the airspace between the vocal folds

Glottal Stop or Click: a transient sound caused by the sudden on or offset of phonation. Glottal stops happen often with words that begin with a vowel and too much pressure is used to articulate the initial vowel sound. In some cultures, this sound is part of the language.
