As an aspiring story teller

who is a trauma survivor, I have been taking vocal lessons with Riva in order to not only develop my vocal skills, but to also find my authentic self. When I began taking lessons with Riva, I believed that my motivation and discipline would help me make progress in a consistent, systematic way. However, I soon encountered fears within myself that I had not expected, fears that were deeply rooted in childhood. Riva understood this right from the onset. She explained to me that my process would take its own unique course and that my practice needed to focus on my whole self and well-being, not just on my intellect.  Thus, my work with Riva has become an integral part of my healing process. Her compassion and non-judgement have made me feel safe and free to explore new ways of expressing myself.  I know that it’s okay for me to be vulnerable. I feel extremely blessed to have Riva as my teacher. Through Riva’s instruction and guidance, I am finding my true voice as a storyteller.  L.
